Fighter OTT release date: When and where to watch Vinnod Prabhakar-led action flick

An action-packed commercial entertainer with a heavy dose of social message – that sums up director Nuthan Umesh’s Fighter, with Vinnod Prabhakar in the lead. The film, which released in theatres in October 2023, had opened to mixed reviews, with some hailing the pertinent message, and others highlighting that Fighter does not offer anything new and treads an oft taken route. It’s taken the team a while to get the film a digital streaming partner and as of June 7, Fighter is available to stream on SunNXT.

At the heart of Fighter are two main issues, exploitation of farmers and ruin of agricultural land by the real-estate mafia, as well as the illegal trade of blood by the medical mafia. The film brought yesteryear heroine Nirosha back to Kannada cinema, as a senior law enforcement official, and mother to Vinnod’s Mohak.

The protagonist gets at least 6 major fights in the film, as he takes on corruption in society and forces meaning harm to his family. Also in the film are Lekha Chandra, Raj Deepak Shetty, Sharath Lohithashwa, Rajesh Nataranga, Pavana Gowda, Kuri Pratap, Jahangir, Cheluvaraj, among others.

Vinnod, meanwhile, has at least two interesting films lined up for release. There’s Nelson, which marks the directorial debut of Gombegala Love-fame actor Arun, in which Vinnod plays a tribal. The film is based on a true story revolving around a gangster community from Chamarajnagar and is set between 1960 and 1990. Vinnod’s next, Maadeva is also set in a similar time period, but has him playing a hangman, a character that the makers describe as emotionless. Maadeva pairs Vinod with his Roberrt co-star Sonal Monteiro yet again.
