Representing one’s country on international platforms is a big achievement and the promising young director is basking in the glory of doing just that.
For the New York Film Academy scholarship student, the film is about that one imaginative friend he had as a child. His first brush with the world of films was when he watched Toy Story for the first time, which absorbed him so much that it laid the foundation of a deep engagement with films, grew his imagination and inspired him to choose the world of films as his career.
Indranil came into the limelight for making India’s first horror mini-series 4 Shades of Leap, which was shot on a minimal budget.
He said in his statement that being selected as a member of the jury at the Seattle Film Festival brought ‘tears of joy’ and ‘blew his mind’ at the same time. Being a cinephile too apart from a filmmaker in the main, he loves to watch films from around the world which only made him how crucial it is like the jury, to ascribe due importance to every entry in the festival. ‘From music to the direction to editing to lastly acting, even production’, he said, all these components are kept in mind by the jury to give ratings and selecting.’ he said.
Indranil, who is the founder and CEO of the production house Unity Pictures, has made critically well-received short films like One Night Stand, Hakchoooo, besides other films like The Case, The Mirage, Trinayani—The Third Eye.
Last year, he was selected as a jury at the Los Angeles film fest and the Hollywood International Film Festival.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Indranil stated that he will be working on ad films now and looks to release a short film Urmimala, which will be submitted at international film festivals and streamed on OTT platforms too.
