The 13th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival concluded on March 10, doling out as many as 27 awards in various categories for movies from 2020 and 2021. One of the recipients of a BIFFes award was director-actor Tharun Sudhir’s Roberrt, which was adjudged the second best in the Kannada popular entertainment category. The award, interestingly, coincided with the one-year anniversary of the Darshan-starrer’s release.

Taking to social media, Tharun posted pictures of him with the award and wrote, “#1YearOfRoberrt
A year has passed since we got #Roberrt in front of you. A big thank you to Dboss @darshanthoogudeepashrinivas , producer @umapathy_s_gowda & my team for the support. And, of course, grateful to you guys for rallying behind us! 🤗 Twin celebrations for our team! One year to the release of Roberrt, and coincidentally we have won second place in the popular entertainment category at #BIFFES ✨”The late Puneeth Rajkumar’s Yuvarathnaa was awarded the Best film award in the Kannada Popilar entertainment category for 2021.

Tharun’s film, produced by Umapathy Srinivas, also starred Vinod Prabhakar, Asha Bhat, Sonal Monteiro, Jagapathi Babu, P Ravi Shankar, Chikkanna, among others. The film’s music by Arjun Janya was a runaway hit, with tracks like Kannu Hodiyaka, Baby Dance Floor Ready, among others, remaining on top of popular charts for weeks.

Meanwhile, following their successful collaboration on Roberrt, Tharun had earlier announced that he was working on a script for Darshan based on the life of a freedom fighter. While a film that brings the duo back together has been announced as D56, which will take off after Darshan finishes his current commitment, Kranti, directed by V Harikrishna, no details are available at the moment about the subject. In February, on the occasion of Darshan’s birthday, Tharun had revealed a theme poster, featuring a dog and a flock of sheep behind. The accompanying tag line mentions that it is the responsibility of the one leading to show the way to the followers.
