The Americans (Disney+ Hotstar)

Not many TV shows have consistently delivered riveting drama from the pilot episode to the series finale. But the multiple award-winning series by FX The Americans has quality in spades and tells the story of two Russian KGB agents in America posing as a regular suburban couple tasked with infiltrating the FBI. Created by Joe Weisberg, the series stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys in lead roles.

Donnie Brasco (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Apple TV)

The 1997 crime drama, Donnie Brasco, stars Johnny Depp in the lead as the titular character, an undercover FBI agent posing as a jewel thief in order to infiltrate Italian crime families in New York. The Mike Newell directorial is based on the real-life story of Joe Pistone aka Donnie Brasco whose undercover operations led to nearly 200 indictments and 100 convictions of members of organized crime. Al Pacino also stars in the film in a leading role as an enforcer for a crime family.

Raazi (Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV)

The next film on the list is a Bollywood title, the 2018 spy thriller Raazi. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film tells the captivating story of an Indian woman who is married into a Pakistani military family in order to pass crucial intel back to India. The film stars Alia Bhatt in the lead with Vicky Kaushal, Shishir Sharma, Rajit Kapur, and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles. The film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel titled Calling Sehmat, and is based on true events.

American Made (Netflix and Amazon Prime Video)

Doug Liman’s 2017 film American Made is an action comedy starring Tom Cruise in the lead. The film is based on the true story of Barry Seals, a TWA pilot, who did reconnaissance missions for the CIA in Columbia. He eventually becomes a drug smuggler for the notorious Medellín cartel before the DEA forces him to be an informant against the cartel. Domhnall Gleeson, Alejandro Edda, Sarah Wright, and Jesse Plemons essay other supporting roles in this underrated film.
