Niveditha Shivarajkumar, the younger daughter of Century Star Shivarajkumar, has been dabbling with production, serials and web shows, with her banner, Shri Mutthu Cine Services and Productions, for a while and is now set to make a much bigger leap with her first feature film. Called Firefly, the film directed by actor-filmmaker Vamshi, will be in theatres on April 24, 2025, a special day for Niveditha’s family – it’s her grandfather, the late matinee idol Dr Rajkumar’s birth anniversary.

Niveditha, who is often seen with her father at public events, but never in the spotlight, is currently the focus of all attention, as she begins promoting her debut film. “Firefly is actually a simple story – it is about presenting a complex emotion in a fun and relatable manner. A gamut of human emotions will be at play in the film,” said Niveditha in conversation with a Kannada news channel.

Niveditha on the kind of film she'd make with Shivarajkumar in the lead

The film has Chigurida Kanasu star Shivarajkumar , who was last seen in Bhairathi Ranagal (watch here ) in a pivotal cameo, which was revealed only in a theatrical teaser. The actor will be seen as a pizza delivery agent in his daughter’s film. Would she like to make a full-fledged film with him in the lead? Niveditha says that she is very keen to collaborate with Shivarajkumar, but his current schedule is such that he is tied up with commitments for at least the next 3-4 years.

But if she were to do a film with her father, the first-time producer says that she would like to see him in a simple family drama, which ties in with her wish to make movies that are a reflection of life and relatable to the viewing audience. Niveditha has also been clear that the films that she makes will be closer to the kind that she enjoys as an audience.

Firefly, she says, was not the first project she discussed with Vamshi. Since she was making web series earlier, he had pitched a couple of ideas to her and then also told her that he has a pitch for a feature film. He gave Niveditha a narration, which she liked and then ran it by her parents, both of who also gave her the go ahead for the project.
