It’s been a while since Malayalam film audience have seen superstar Suresh Gopi onscreen. The actor made his comeback last year with Varane Avashyamund in a slightly comic role, but fans have had to wait to see him in an action avatar. But the wait won’t be long as the makers of Kaaval have announced its release date.
The movie, directed by Kasaba filmmaker Nithin Renji Panicker, is slated to hit theatres in the State on November 25. It also marks the first movie with a superstar to get a theatrical release date after theatres were allowed to reopen from October 25 in Kerala.
Kaaval, which also has Renji Panicker in a pivotal role, had wrapped up filming last year. Suresh Gopi and Renji Panicker play best friends Thampan and Antony, who have a falling out after a family tragedy. Decades later when Antony’s family faces a crisis, he seeks Thampan’s help.
The movie has Suresh Gopi playing Thampan in two phases of his life – as a man in his late 50s and his younger version. The movie also has Rachel David, Evan Anil, Muthumani, Suresh Krishna and Sreejith Ravi in pivotal roles.
Nithin had earlier mentioned that though the movie is a thriller, it will have elements that fans of Suresh Gopi’s films from the 90s would enjoy. The superstar, meanwhile, has also wrapped shooting for Joshiy’s Pappaan, which has Kaniha, Gokul Suresh and Nyla Usha. He also has Ottakomban coming up, which is touted to be a ‘mass’ action-entertainer.
