First look of Meghana Gaonkar's tough cop in 'Shivaji Surathkal 2' piques netizens interests

Actor Ramesh Aravind and team Shivaji Surathkal are currently engrossed in the making of the second instalment of the exciting franchise. Titled Shivaji Surathkal: The Mysterious Case of Maayavi, the film went on floors back in November of 2021 and we now hear that the shooting phase is nearing its end with the dubbing process currently underway.

The latest reports also reveal that the makers of the upcoming sequel will release the teaser on September 10 to mark lead Ramesh Aravind’s birthday. As a bonus offer, the team has revealed Meghana Gaonkar’s look in the film ahead of the teaser release.

Meghana Gaonkar will be seen playing DCP Deepa Kamath in the film who happens to be Ramesh Aravind’s boss in the film. As a no-nonsense cop, Meghana’s character will represent typical police power and call the shots when it comes to the case – director Akash Srivatsa shared in a recent interview that the character of DCP Deepa Kamath has been conceived in such a way that it has every chance of returning in the future instalments.

Meghana Gaonkar, who has previously starred in love stories such as Charminar, Simpallagi Innondh Love Story, etc., is said to have been super kicked about slipping into a cop avatar, especially considering her own father was a police officer. The director added in the same interview that Meghana met with many real-life women police officers to understand the intricacies of the job.

Additionally, the team of Shivaji Surathkal: The Mysterious Case of Maayavi is introducing two new characters in the form of Rakesh Maiya, who plays a rookie cop, and Vinayak Joshi who will be seen as a fellow police officer in the film.

Aside from Ramesh Aravind who plays the titular character, Radhika Narayan too will reprise her role of Shivaji Surathkal’s deceased wife Janani in the sequel. In a recent interview, Radhika shared that although she wouldn’t be able to divulge anything about her role in part 2, the makers have lent her character an interesting edge.
