First look of Ranu Mondal biopic: Sacred Games-fame Eshika Dey to play the lead in Hrishikesh Mondal’s directorial

The singer who started her journey as a busker at a railway station shot to fame after her video went viral. The first look of her biopic Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai was revealed.

Ranu Mondal became an overnight star after her video of singing Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai at a railway station in West Bengal went viral. Ever since the singer has received fame and has never failed to be in the news. It has been reported that her biopic will be made by director Hrishikesh Mondal with Sacred Games fame actress Eshika Dey in lead. Now the first look of the film has been released. 

The film promises to capture not only the meteoric rise of Ranu Mondal, who used to sing to earn money at the Ranaghat railway station in Nadia, West Bengal but also the backstories of Ranu. The film will also explain the reason why Ranu took shelter at a station. 

Ranu Mondal used to sing at Ranaghat station. Social worker Atindra Roy shared her singing video on social media and that went viral in 2019. She was flown down to Mumbai. Himesh Reshammiya recorded a duet with her and that song and video had a global reach.

However, after the steep rise, came the fall. Within a year, Ranu Mondal was compelled to go back to the platform of Ranaghat to sing to earn money. Her family members, especially her daughters, also deserted the singer. Currently, she lives her life with the help of a few local clubs. The film will focus on such ups and downs of her life. Eshika will be playing the character of Ranu Mondal.

Sidhu, Surajit Chattopadhyay, Nilakash Roy, and Sandip Kar composed the music for the film. Ranu Mondal has also recorded a song. Along with the director, Soumen Ghosh penned the script. Initially, the name of the film was supposed to be Miss Ranu Maria. Now, it has been changed to Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai.
