Kannada cinema’s Crazy Star Ravichandran V has been quite the busy bee, either winding up acting commitments or giving finishing touches to his directorial, Ravi Boppanna. In fact, in the past few days, Ravichandran has been teasing audiences with sneak peeks of what to expect from Ravi Boppanna – His Sacrifice, which is the actor-filmmaker’s version of the Malayalam hit Joseph.
The original film had Joju George as the title character, a retired cop, in a story that revolved around illegal organ harvesting. The entire narrative follows the protagonist as he tries to solve this mystery at great personal cost.
The Kannada version, directed by Ravichandran, has him in the title role. The actor-director got Kavya Shetty to play his wife in the film, while Sudeep, Mohan and Rachita Ram were roped in for pivotal roles. In an earlier interaction with the OTTplay, Kavya had said that Ravichandran has made several changes to his version of the film, including to her role, which gets a lot more screen time and sees the actress sport three different looks in keeping with the age of the character. “When I saw the Malayalam original, I thought I wouldn’t have much to do, but Ravi sir got me to play the role in three age groups across the narrative, so it ended up being a lot more,” she had said. Sudeep, meanwhile, will be seen in the role of a lawyer. The film was shot in locations in and around Coorg.
The latest, we hear, is that in the run-up to announcing the film’s impending release, Ravichandran is dropping a lyrical video first. Called Heronu Ivane Villannu Ivane, the song will be released on October 31. While Ravichandran has been credited as music director for the film in all media reports so far, it is composer Gautam Srivastava who made the announcement about the song.
