First reactions to Eternals: The new film boasting a diverse cast is the most epic film by the MCU

 Marvel Studios' latest comic book adaptation Eternals had its red carpet premiere in Hollywood which was graced by actors Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Don Lee, Richard Madden, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani and Lauren Ridloff, Kit Harington and their Oscar-winning director/screenwriter Chloe Zhao.

The near-immortal beings, Eternals descended upon Los Angeles for its red carpet premiere. Actors Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Don Lee, Richard Madden, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani and Lauren Ridloff, Kit Harington and their Oscar-winning director/screenwriter Chloe Zhao. The cast and crew commemorated the world premiere of Eternals.   

At the premiere, Jolie told Reuters that she hopes the film, which boasts of its divse cast, will normalise the world representation. "I hope people watch these films in years to come and we don't even think about it as being diverse, it just becomes what's normal and what's right, and what's an appropriate representation of the world we live in," said the actor. Her co-star Gemma Chan added that the film has got a different tone and one of its themes is connection. "Obviously the cast is huge and it spans 7,000 years so it's really an epic story. One of the themes of the film is connection, connection to one another, connection to earth. I hope that resonates with people in some way," the actor told the news agency. Chan plays the role of Sersi who has lived on Earth and secretly protected it for 7,000 years.

The film is epic, not just for its storyline and diverse cast but also for introducing a deaf character for the first time in the marvel universe. Lauren Ridloff plays the deaf character Makkari. According to the news agency, the actor told in sign language that he might be the first but he won't be the only physically challenged person in MCU for long. "There's another deaf superhero coming into the MCU very soon so this is definitely a game-changer," he said.

The film received great first responses. The film seems to have succeeded in establishing a new line of human-like superheroes for the MCU. Numerous fans and critics spoke about the film on social media. Courtney Howard, a critic, called the film just amazing. Another reviewer Erik Davis tweeted that there is something bittersweet about the film and that it is refreshing. "Marvel's 'Eternals' is spectacular and abstruse with a new MCU mythology that sets the film apart from the rest. To be honest, that's very refreshing. There is something bittersweet about the film, which is reflected in the sunset settings - definitely a Chloé Zhao influence. He is full of soul and thoughts."

Even non-marvel fans turned into fans after watching the film. An entertainment editor Chris Hayner said he went in without knowing anything about the film and walked out as a fan. Read his tweet here:

After Eternals, Marvel still has few blockbusters and many Disney+ series of phase 4 of the MCU to offer. These include Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which has recently been postponed with numerous other Marvel films. 

Meanwhile, we can all await the release of Eternals in theatres in India on November 5.
