First single promo from Karthi's Viruman out

The video promo of the first single Kanja Poovu Kannala from Karthi's Viruman was released today. Taking to his micro-blogging page, Karthi wrote, "Truly excited to bring this to you! The song Kanja Poovu Kannala is sung by Sid Sriram and has lyrics by Karumathur Manimaran. Music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Going by the promo, the song seems to be a folksy number. Karthi and Aditi Shankar play the leads in it.

Viruman is a commercial potboiler written and directed by M Muthiah. The film is produced by Suriya and Jyothika. Cinematography is by Selvakumar SK and editing is by Venkat Raajen.

Muthiah and Karthi had earlier worked together in Komban, a rural entertainer. The film had Lakshmi Menon playing the leading lady. The star cast included Rajkiran, Super Subbarayan, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunas and Kovai Sarala. GV Prakash had composed the music for the film. This was the third time that he collaborated iwth Karthi, the previous outings being Aayirathil Oruvan and Saguni. The songs were chartbusters. Cinematography was by Velraj and editing was by Praveen KL. The film was dubbed in Hindi as well.

Director Muthiah is known for his rural entertainers laced with a lot of action and drama, namely Kutti Puli, Komban, Marudhu, Kodiveeran, Devarattam and Pulikkuthi Pandi. 

Karthi was last seen in Bakkiyaraj Sulthan. The film marked the debut of Rashmika Mandanna in Tamil. The actor is now working in Mani Ratnam's magnu opus Ponniyin Selvan-I and Sardar.
