Flee, the Academy Award-nominated animated docudrama film, is now available on Zee's OTT platform ZEE5. The film is based on the true story of Amin Nawabi, a Danish academic refugee. Amin opens up about his traumatic past as an Afghan child refugee, mostly through animation. It's a powerful, yet heartbreaking, look at the plight of migrants during wartime.

The Afghan refugee docudrama is a cinematic memoir that highlights the dangers that migrants face all over the world. Riz Ahmed, a well-known British-Pakistani actor and rapper, has provided his voice in the English version of this 90-minute animated documentary.

Flee, directed by Danish filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen, made history by receiving three Academy Award nominations: Best Documentary Feature, Best Animated Feature Film, and Best International Feature Film. To name a few, the docudrama has won awards at the prestigious Annie Awards, British Independent Film Awards, Gold Derby Awards, and Sundance Film Festival.

Flee's director, Jonas Poher Rasmussen, stated that it's a universal story. It is, of course, about the physical journey from Afghanistan to Denmark, but it is also about a person looking for a place in the world where he can be himself, with all that entails. Being a refugee does not define a person; it is something that happens to them but does not define them.

Jonas also shared that Flee is ultimately about the true meaning of home, which everyone can identify with. Now, thanks to our collaboration and availability on ZEE5, it will be able to reach a broader audience.

Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India, said in a statement that at ZEE5, they are building a platform that empowers storytellers to tell stories that matter, and Flee is one such global yet relatable story that must be told, and which must reach a wider audience. The film, which received three nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, will be available for Indian audiences on ZEE5, and the producers are confident that this moving story will leave an impression on the viewers.

Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative Officer, Special Projects, ZEEL, said that she is driven by the most untold and freshest stories with perspectives they haven't seen before. One such film is Flee, and the film gives a voice to the millions of people who are suffering as a result of political insecurity. The central character reveals migrant feelings of otherness, void, and trauma. In her opinion, it's a creatively daring and engrossing story about humanity. They are excited to share this story with a wider audience as part of Zee Special Projects.
