Formula 1 Drive to Survive, the 10-episode behind-the-scenes documentary of the Formula 1 World Championship, is set to return for a seventh season, chronicling events from the 2024 racing calendar. The docu-drama, produced by James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin, which was first commissioned in 2019, has had 6 successful seasons, with the seventh getting a streaming update.
Formula 1 Drive to Survive is a collaboration between Formula 1 and Netflix, and the streamer has now announced that Season 7 will drop on March 7, 2025. The series takes a deep dive into Formula One World Championship, the prestigious international racing series for Formula One cars. Each season provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the championship, focusing on the drivers, team owners, and management, showcasing their hard work, challenges, and frustrations throughout the season, with pre-race and on-track action.
The 2024 season will not be as one-sided as 2023 was, as Max Verstappen did not dominate the races, even though he still managed to get to a fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen won only 9 of the 24 races, and there was not much support from his teammate Sergio Perez, which meant that Red Bull Racing was out of contention for the Constructors’ title.
That fight went down to the wire between McLaren and Ferrari, with the former eventually clinching the title, following solid performances by both its drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Ferrari’s title hunt was largely driven by Charles Leclerc, with Carlos Sainz Jr also pitching in occasionally.
