Kubbra Sait became a sensation after playing Kukoo in Season 1 of Netflix series Sacred Games. She has recently been in the news for being a part of Apple TV+ show Foundation, which was released on September 24 and renewed for a second season.
Sait, who plays an alien named Phara Keaen, says the show is the “incredible vision” of author Isaac Asimov. In an interview with India Today, she spoke about her character, being a part of the show, and whether it will spearhead a wave of Indian content on Apple TV+.
Sait said that the series adaptation of Foundation will excite even those who have never read the sci-fi novel, and the ones who are familiar with the story will also find it interesting.
Speaking about her character, she explained that Phara is not Indian, she’s not even human but from an entirely different planet. The actor also seemed hopeful about Foundation being the show that would lead to more India-specific content, and increase more South Asian representation on screen.
“So, for me, it's incredible to know that David Goyer has this passion and he says let us embark on this journey where we find this character who is from South East Asia. And then this whole magic unfolds,” she said.
Sait also spoke about the audition process, which required her to be a blank slate for the makers bereft of any makeup or jewellery so the makers could see how she would emote the character just with her eyes.
In a recent post on Instagram, the 38-year-old actress revealed her look from the Apple TV+ show. She shared her excitement to be on the show, and about how she has been waiting to share the pictures with her fans for over a year
