Nikkhil Advani announced his upcoming political series Freedom At Midnight a few days ago. The show is based on the book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins of the same name and promises to highlight several incidents from the year of India's independence. Not just this, as per the makers, the epic political thriller drama is also set to show interconnected stories about the crucial events and personalities who played an important role in writing the country's history.

After announcing the cast of the film, the director, Nikkhil Advani shared a picture on his Instagram account today thanking Maharaja Gajsingh Ji II of Marwar-Jodhpur for giving his majestic palace for the shoot of the show. Sharing the heartfelt note with a picture with the team and Maharaja, he wrote: "Grateful beyond words for the incredible opportunity to shoot at the breathtaking @umaidbhawanpalace for three magical days, bringing ‘Freedom at Midnight’ to life."

"A heartfelt thank you to Maharaja Gajsingh Ji II of Marwar-Jodhpur for opening his doors and allowing us to add splendour to our story within the walls of this majestic palace. His commitment to preserving history and culture shines through every corner, not to mention his father, Maharaja Hanwant Singh’s invaluable contribution towards the Independence of India," he further added.

Cast and crew of Freedom at Midnight

The show stars Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, and Rajendra Chawla as Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, and Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, respectively. The show also stars Arif Zakaria and Ira Dubey as Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his sister. Yesterday, the makers also introduced Rajesh Kumar as Liaquat Ali Khan, a close associate of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and KC Shankar as constitutional adviser V P Menon. 

The story is penned by Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor. 

Freedom at Midnight is set to stream on SonyLIV and OTTplay premium.
