The movie features five segments directed by Jeo Baby, Akhil Anilkumar, Kunjila Mascillamani, Francies Louis and Jithin Isaac Thomas
It’s been anthologies galore on OTT platforms and another project from Mollywood gears up to join the list. Titled Freedom Fight Swanthandrya Samaram, the movie has a bunch of talented filmmakers – The Great Indian Kitchen director Jeo Baby, Archana 31 Not Out director Akhil Anilkumar, Jithin Isaac Thomas, Francies Louis and Kunjila Mascillamani – helming its five segments.
The movie is presented by Jeo Baby and “serves as a reminder of how important freedom is in our lives”. With a host of actors including Rajisha Vijayan, Joju George, Srinda, Unni Lalu, Sidhartha Siva and Kabani in lead roles, the movie is expected to address some hard-hitting issues through the five short films.
What is Freedom Fight about?
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jeo told us that the initial plan was to get the directors to make five short films on any content they liked as they didn’t want to limit it to a particular theme. But it so happened that all the five films had a connecting thread – as they all talked about people’s freedom. “It’s something that is relevant to all our lives and this film discusses the importance of freedom,” he said.
Kunjila’s vignette will have Srinda in the lead. Jeo, who himself is acting in one of the segments, will be helming the featurette with Joju and Rohini. Francies’ feature will have Kabani in the lead while Jithin’s short film has Sidhartha as the protagonist. Rajisha will be playing the lead in the segment helmed by Akhil, who is currently awaiting the release of Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Archana 31 Not Out.
When and where to watch Freedom Fight?
The makers had released the trailer of the anthology on Republic Day. It revealed that Freedom Fight will be a direct-to-OTT release, much like Jeo Baby’s The Great Indian Kitchen, and it will stream on Sony LIV. The movie is set to hit the platform on February 11.
