We’ve missed watching our favourite gang sip on coffee at Central Perk, and no amount of Netflix reruns will fix the gaping hole that the end of Friends in 2004 left in the hearts of many fans. But the six are reuniting again to be there for you in the time of a pandemic with the HBO Max unscripted reunion special airing on May 27.
The announcement was made on HBO Max’s social media, featuring a short video of the friends walking away with their backs to the camera and the iconic theme song playing in the background.
Featuring all six members of the original cast, Friends: The Reunion was originally supposed to have been filmed over a year ago. However, the pandemic disrupted these plans on multiple occasions. It was on April 11 that the cast was finally able to wrap the filming.
Co-creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman will also be appearing in the reunion episode, along with Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Courtney Cox. They will be joined by special guests like David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Tom Selleck, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.
The reunion is not a revival episode and none of the original cast members will be reprising their roles. Instead, it is an episode where they share their favourite memories of working on set and more. It will also include special behind-the-scenes footage.
