Courteney Cox had achieved global fame and recognition for her delightful performance as Monica Geller on the popular sitcom Friends, which is now available to stream on Netflix. But it seems that the actress felt her stardom did not stop Hollywood from ignoring her at times.

In a conversation with Variety, Cox opened up about how she felt ‘irrelevant’ after she ended her run on the sitcom, Cougar Town. The actress had starred in all six seasons of the sitcom and said that she struggled to find the ‘right’ project after the show ended. She admitted that it might have been partly her fault as well, as she had chosen to focus more on her relationships and other things rather than ‘the business side of things’. The actress talked about how she felt she was not ‘driven’ enough. “I think they probably forgot about me for a while,” she added.

Cox is perhaps most well known for her starring role in all ten seasons of Friends, which earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award. She had reunited with her Friends co-stars, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, in a reunion special of the show that took place last year.

She had also had a recurring role in the Scream franchise, where she essayed Gale Weathers. Recently, Cox had reprised her role as Weathers in the latest instalment in the slasher horror franchise. Titled Scream, the 2022 film also saw her ex-partner David Arquette, and actress Neve Campbell reprising their roles from the previous films.

The actress also appeared in the horror-comedy sitcom, Shining Vale, which was released this month in the US.
