RRR (Hindi) has made the second-best recovery since the pandemic, but it's a mixed bag. As per Box Office India, in some areas, the results are excellent, but in others, they are appalling. Despite being the highest post-pandemic, 83 was nevertheless disappointing. The Ranveer Singh starrer had the holiday factor, which is perhaps why it is still the best.
The numbers were roughly Rs 1.50 crore nett, less than 83 at national chains, but it gained momentum in non-multiplexes and singles that opened early. In certain smaller circuits, there should be some post-pandemic. Sooryavanshi topped Bihar since the circuit is in much better shape now. The advance in Odisha is incredibly strong across the circuit, from giant plexes to single screens, so that should be the biggest number post-pandemic, simply counting Hindi versions.
Overall, the hype hasn't worked, but the true battle is always content, which the hope is will succeed. The good news is that The Kashmir Files saw another decline on Thursday, indicating that the film is no longer the menace it appeared to be last weekend.
The following are the most significant advancements since the pandemic:
Irrespective of the box office result, 83 had the most advanced bookings in the post-pandemic era. The film minted about Rs 8.50 crore in bookings.
While RRR, the latest big release on the silver screens, is slightly behind with approximately Rs 8 crore in the booking.
As per Box Office India, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, due to very limited theatres opening in advance for two days, made about Rs 4 crore.
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, starring Alia Bhatt in the titular role, did great with advance booking. The film raked in Rs 3.50 crore.
Akshay Kumar's recent release, Bachchhan Paandey, is the weakest of the top five films, minting Rs 2.50 crore in bookings. This is due to the ongoing The Kashmir Files wave.
