Aamir Khan seemed to have poured his heart and soul into his latest venture, Laal Singh Chaddha. On many occasions, the actor had opened up about the long and arduous journey he had to go through to get the Hindi remake of Forrest Gump onto the silver screen. The makers of the film recently unveiled a new BTS video, which gives viewers a glimpse into how the makers brainstormed some of the key elements of the film.

The video starts off with Aamir rehearsing his Punjabi diction for the role of the titular character. As he is rehearsing, producer Kiran Rao comes by and asks the team to reduce the Punjabi, reasoning that the film is not a Punjabi movie. Atul Kulkarni, who scripted the Hindi adaptation, calls Laal a transparent and kind hearted person. The character wears a discernible pair of high waisted pants in the film, and the makers are seen brainstorming the look. Other parts of Laal’s look, including his turban, shirt material, beard and worn running shoes.

Aamir also opens up about the message he wants to give through the film. The actor says that he wants to show the strength of innocence through Laal and show Indian audiences the value of innocence as well.

In addition to Aamir, the film also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. Shah Rukh Khan also makes a cameo appearance in the movie.

The film is adapted from Robert Zemeckis’ Academy Award winning 1994 directorial, Forrest Gump. Aamir had revealed earlier that he had spent years trying to get the rights to the film, having had a tough time convincing Robert to hand over the film’s remake rights. The original Hollywood film is in itself an adaptation of Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name.

Laal Singh Chaddha is available for streaming on Netflix.
