Quentin Tarantino

Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino has been sued by Miramax studios for his plans of releasing NFTs based on his iconic film Pulp Fiction. Tarantino, who has collaborated with Miramax on several projects including Jackie Brown and Kill Bill, believes that he is within his rights to release these NFTs called the ‘Tarantino NFT Collection”. The NFTs are said to be unique with secret content embedded within them.

David Harbour

Stranger Things star David Harbour has been cast in the upcoming thriller film Violent Night. The film will be directed for Universal by Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola who is credited with films such as Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. The film is set to be released in December 2022.

Netflix

Streaming giant Netflix has announced during its third-quarter earnings that it is set to revamp the way it measures its viewing metrics. The top-10 list is set for an overhaul with a dedicated website setup that supplements local top 10 lists for over 90 countries. Moving forward the rankings will be based on the hours viewed for each title instead of a two-minute sample.  

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the highly anticipated trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home starring Tom Holland. Fans of the friendly neighborhood web-slinger were slightly disappointed that the trailer did not feature the rumored return of Toby Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man. However, the trailer did showcase the return of several villains from the other Spider-Man films series such as Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Willem Defoe’s Green Goblin, and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman from the Toby Maguire films. Whereas Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Rhys Iffans’ The Lizard from the Andrew Garfield films also featured in the trailer.

The film is set to be released on December 15, 2021. 

Lionsgate

Lionsgate is collaborating with the producers of Free Guy for the English-language adaptation of Riders of Justice, the Danish action-comedy that was helmed by Anders Thomas Jensen. The filmmaker will co-write the adaptation with Nikolaj Arcel, who also assisted him in writing the original. The story follows a soldier who returns from his recently deployed mission to look after his teenage daughter after his wife’s sudden death.

Yash Raj Films

Yash Raj Films’ first project on its streaming platform will be an investigative thriller. Budgeted at Rs 1 billion, the series will be set in Bhopal. The show, tentatively led by four heroes, will either be helmed by debutant Shiv Rawal or Gopi Puthran (who directed Mardaani and Mardaani 2). 

Karen Gillan to star in Rhona Who Lives By The River

Disney+ Hotstar is developing an animated musical titled Rhona Who Lives by the River with Emily Kapnek (Suburgatory) as creator and Avengers actress Karen Gillan set to voice the titular character. Gillan has also scheduled to executive produce the series. 

Lizzy Caplan to Star in ‘Fleishman Is in Trouble’

Lizzy Caplan will feature in Hulu’s upcoming limited series titled Fleishman is in Trouble, based on Taffy Brodesser-Akner's 2019 debut novel. Caplan will play the lead in the series which revolves around a 40-something man navigating the world of online dating after his recent divorce. Caplan’s recent outing in Showtime's Masters of Sex won her considerable accolades and she is set to come onboard Paramount+’s series adaptation of Fatal Attraction where the actress plays the role portrayed by Glenn Close.
