Hollywood action legend Arnold Schwarzenegger is back with an exciting new series. Titled FUBAR, the latest action comedy series has become a hit on Netflix, and is expected to be renewed for another season. Netflix also released a documentary on the former governor of California titled Arnold, exploring the life of the legendary actor and politician. In today’s List hai toh hit hai, we take a look at hidden references or Easter eggs of Schwarzenegger’s yesteryear blockbusters that you may have missed in FUBAR.

  1. The iconic cigar

Some of the most iconic shots from the actor’s blockbusters often feature Arnold smoking a cigar. In fact, cigars reportedly gained immense popularity across the globe thanks to Schwarzenegger. It is reported that when Schwarzenegger was the Governor of California he used to conduct meetings in an outdoor tent, because the capitol building in California was a no-smoking zone.

2. “Get to the choppa”

One of Schwarzenegger’s most iconic lines from the 1987 film Predator is “Get to the choppa”, when he screams at his comrades to get to safety using the chopper or helicopter. In FUBAR, Schwarzenegger uses the word ‘choppa’ on a couple of occasions, including in one hilarious scene where his character talks about “choppa parenting” and he is immediately corrected by his daughter who informs him that it is helicopter parenting.

3. Homage to a sex scene

In the comedy 1988 film, Twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars alongside Dany DeVito as estranged twins. One of the memorable scenes from the film is when he has a silly grin on his face after his sex scene with Kelly Preston, with the song I Only Have Eyes for You by The Flamingos playing in the background. The same scene is reenacted in FUBAR after Schwarzenegger’s character Luke Brunner gets back together with ex-wife – Schwarzenegger has the same silly grin from more than 30 years ago with the same song playing in the background.

4. Dany DeVito tribute

DeVito and Schwarzenegger have shared a close friendship after they filmed Twins together. In FUBAR, Brunner uses the phrase “that’s it and that’s all”, a tagline which he claims he invented. However, later on in the series he confesses that he took it from the film Throw Momma from the Train, which is a 1987 crime comedy film starring Dany DeVito.

5. Case file numbers in FUBAR

In the series Schwarzenegger plays the role of a CIA Officer. The case files assigned to his character often feature numbers which are a nod to some of his most iconic films. The serial number of the Terminator in The Terminator, the police badge number in Kindergarten Cop, and the car license plate in The Last Action Hero are some of the clever references hidden in the film as case file numbers

6. Real life to reel life

In the series, Schwarzenegger’s character has been divorced for 15 years – which is approximately the same time period Schwarzenegger has been separated from ex-wife Maria Shriver. The series also delves into the idea of how a man failed his family, which is something Schwarzenegger himself has confessed about regarding his real life.

Well that's all the time we got for today's episode , until the next time it's your host Nikhil signing out.
