The US President being the target of terrorist attacks is a done-to-death concept in Hollywood, like, for instance, Air Force One, Olympus Has Fallen, White House Down, In the Line of Fire, etc., and the list goes on. Joining this list is the upcoming action thriller G20, with Viola Davis in the lead. Directed by Patricia Riggen and written by Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, and Logan and Noah Miller, G20 has Viola as the US President, who along with other world members, is under attack at the G20 summit.
G20 is a new original movie that will release on Amazon Prime Video on April 10. Viola Davis is no stranger to action films, if The Woman King is any indication. In G20, also, she, as President Danielle Sutton, is up against a terrorist takeover of the G20 summit in South Africa and gets her fair share of action, including hand-to-hand combat. Not only does she have to defend herself and fellow world leaders, but her family too. But will they take her lead when they mock her if she’s Captain America?

Antony Starr is the main antagonist, and is seen declaring in the trailer that he and his compatriots have not only taken the G20 by force but also intend to launch ‘Project Deepfake’ that will reset the world’s financial markets. As if that isn’t bad enough, President Sutton also has to figure out what’s happening to her family, who’ve been missing since the attack was launched.
In a statement about the film, director Riggen said that with G20, her goal was to create a thrilling, high-intensity action film that she’s always admired, but with a focus on the high stakes of the contemporary, tech-driven world. Her aim, she added, was to deliver an immersive experience that keeps audiences hooked from beginning to end.
