Gaalipata 2 is nonchalantly turning out to be a bona fide box office success as the film inches very close to the Rs. 25 crore mark. According to the latest trade reports, the Golden Star Ganesh and Yogaraj Bhat collaboration has collected Rs. 24.6 crores (gross figures) across the country and is well on course to reap bigger rewards in the coming days.
By virtue of this credible box office run, Gaalipata 2 has acquired the status of being one of the best openers this year as far as Kannada cinema is concerned. The year 2022, in particular, has been a fruitful year for Sandalwood with a number of ‘pan-India’ ventures scoring big at the box office: Gaalipata 2 joins the elite list that also comprises films like K.G.F: Chapter 2, James, Vikrant Rona, and 777 Charlie.
Having released in cinema halls on August 12, the multistarrer Gaalipata 2 is said to have grossed Rs. 4.5 crores on the opening day. The subsequent weekend days (Days #2 and #3) proved to be much more lucrative for the makers as the film breached the Rs. 20 crore mark within a matter of 4 days – the first Tuesday of the theatrical run saw a slight dip in collections but one wouldn’t be alarmed by that.
The same trade reports reveal that Gaalipata 2 has earned close to Rs. 21 crores over the first 5 days in terms of nett collections. The worldwide collection is currently hovering over the Rs. 25 crore mark (nett).
Although the film received mixed to positive reviews, the iconic Yogaraj Bhat and Golden Star Ganesh collaboration ended up as the main lure for the audiences. Gaalipata 2 is the duo’s fourth film together and with the likes of Diganth Manchale, Anant Nag, Pawan Kumar, and other usual ‘Bhatru’ suspects added to the mix, the offer seems too tough to pass up. The film comes as a spiritual sequel to the 2008 film Gaalipata, starring Ganesh, Dignath, Daisy Bopanna, Rajesh Krishnan, and others.
Vaibhavi Shandilya, Sharmiela Mandre, Samyuktha Menon, and others are the new entrants to the cast of the 2022 film. Gaalipata 2 has been produced by Ramesh Reddy with Arjun Janya scoring the music.
