Fourteen years ago, when Yogaraj Bhat’s Gaalipata came out and went on to become a runaway hit, its music was also widely appreciated. One of the songs, Minchagi Neenu Baralu, featuring Ganesh and Daisy Bopanna, was one of the hit numbers, considering that it brought together the Mungaru Male combo of Yogaraj, Ganesh, lyricist Jayant Kaikini and singer Sonu Nigam.

Now, with Gaalipata 2 all set to release in theaters on August 12, the team has revealed that they are recreating the magic of this combination with yet another romantic number. Called Naanaadada Maathellava, the song, composed by Arjun Janya, has Sonu Nigam on vocals, Jayant’s lyrics and features Ganesh with Vaibhavi Shandilya. The lyrical video of the song will be released on July 2, which is Ganesh’s birthday and the team is hopeful that bringing back this Gaalipata combination will make it extra special for the Golden Star.

“Jayant Kaikini and Sonu Nigam have been major factors in the successful professional journey that Ganesh and I have had since Mungaru Male,” said Yogaraj at a press meet last evening, during which the song launch scheduled for July 2 was announced. Leading man Ganesh, meanwhile, will not be in Bengaluru on his big day and has plans with his family. He added that he was not looking at celebrating his birthday with fans this time as Covid is rising again in Bengaluru. Diganth was not at the press briefing, as the actor is still recuperating following surgery to correct injuries sustained from an accident during an adventure activity.

Gaalipata 2 is the sequel to the 2008 Gaalipata. Produced by N Ramesh Reddy, the film also stars Diganth Manchale, Anant Nag, Pawan Kumar, Sharmiela Mandre and Samyuktha Menon, among others. The film has been shot across locations in Kudremukh and Kazakhstan, with principal photography completed in October last year.
