Veteran Sai Kumar, who has proved his worth in cinema and television in a prolific career spanning over 50 years, hopes to make a mark in the digital medium as well with ZEE5's upcoming Telugu show Gaalivaana. Directed by Sharan Koppishetty, the show is headlined by Sai Kumar and Radhika Sarathkumar, while Chandini Chowdary, Chaitanya Krishna, Sharanya Pradeep, Nandini Rai, Thagubothu Ramesh, Surabhi Jayachandra Varma, Sri Lakshmi and Ashritha Vemuganti are roped in to play key roles.
The character promo of Sai Kumar's part in Gaalivaana (named Komarraju) was launched by actress Lavanya Tripathi earlier today. He plays a protective father, Komarraju, in a large family, in the show. In the promo, a priest says that Sai Kumar's presence has added a lot of sheen to the temple's ambience and later the scene shifts to Komarraju in a dejected state, where he's not able to come to terms with the death of his daughter.
Komarraju wonders why would someone want to murder someone as innocent as her daughter? He further chides his son for some reason and later adds that his daughter's life had taken a turn for the worse right at the moment she got married. He is livid when he's threatened by a few people, who should have offered him moral support in the hour of crisis. The promo ends with the character sitting by a beach in front of a bonfire.
Sai Kumar has picked a pitch-perfect role for his Telugu OTT debut, filled with enough emotions, drama and intensity. The intriguing premise makes us curious all the more. Gaalivaana is produced by Sharrath Marar for Northstar Entertainment in collaboration with BBC India. Sricharan Pakala has scored the music for the show.
