Simrat Kaur scored the biggest hit of her career with her Hindi film Gadar 2, the box office tsunami helmed by Anil Sharma, the sequel to the 2000 blockbuster Gadar. Also starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, the film is unstoppable at the ticket window despite entering into its fourth week. Now, Simrat is gearing up for the release of her new Telugu film.
Not many may know that Simrat kickstarted her career in Telugu cinema alongside Kartikeya Gummakonda in the 2017 release Prematho Mee Karthik. She was next part of Lakshmikanth Chenna’s love story titled Parichayam and was also seen in a crucial role in MS Raju’s surprise OTT hit Dirty Hari (streaming on aha, where she co-starred Shravan Reddy, Ruhani Sharma).
Later, she was seen in a brief cameo in 2022’s Sankranthi hit Bangarraju (available on ZEE5) and Mayapetika (to stream on aha). Her next Telugu film is titled Mass Maharaju. The film has two male leads - Raj Tarun and George Reddy fame Sandeep Madhav. A new image from the film featuring Simrat, Sandeep Madhav, Bichagadu actress Satna Titus and Raj Tarun was shared recently. The period drama, set in the 1980s, is helmed by CH Sudheer Raju.
The film, which is currently in the last leg of the shoot, is bankrolled by Swathi Raju under Sunrise Entertainment. Mani Sharma is scoring the music for the film. Sampada, Raja Ravindra, Ravi Shankar, Shafi, Sivaramaraju Venkat, Satyam Rajesh, Dhanraj, Rachcha Ravi and Aishwarya play other crucial roles in Mass Maharaju. The tale offers a mix of family entertainment and action. Ajayan Vincent cranks the camera and Prawin Pudi is the editor.
The makers of Mass Maharaju will be announcing the release date shortly. Raj Tarun, before the action saga, will have another release - Thiragabadara Sami, directed by AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary, that also stars Mannara Chopra and Manvi Malhotra. Sandeep Madhav’s last release was Gandharwa, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
