The success of Gadar 2 at the box office shows no signs of slowing down. Even without a holiday boost, the film made an impressive Rs. 38.70 crore on Monday, bringing its four-day domestic total to Rs. 173.58 crore.
The breakdown of four days includes: on Friday, the Anil Sharma film minted Rs. 40.10 crore, while on its first Saturday and Sunday, it went on to make Rs. 43.08 crore and Rs. 51.70 crore, respectively.
The film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles. Anil Sharma co-produced the movie with Zee Studios, and he also directed it.
In Gadar 2, Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) disappears following a border clash in 1971 during the "Crush India" campaign and is presumed to be in captivity in Pakistan. Tara's son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh (Utkarsh Sharma) hears this and travels to Pakistan to rescue him; however, Tara is not there, and Jeete is captured and tortured by Pakistani soldiers led by Major General Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa), who seeks vengeance against Tara for killing 40 of his men during Tara's escape from Pakistan with his wife Sakeena (Ameesha Patel) and Jeete in 1954. After Tara and Sakeena are reunited, she finds out about this and decides to go save Jeete from Hamid Iqbal and his men.
Gaurav Chopra, Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, Rohit Chaudhary, Madhumalti Kapoor, Rakesh Bedi, Mushtaq Khan, Dolly Bindra, and others play supporting roles in the film.
Due to the film's overwhelming commercial success, several theatres began showing it late at night and early in the morning. ZEE5 has purchased the movie's digital streaming rights. With Gadar 2, Ameesha has returned to the big screen after five years. She was last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit, which also featured Sunny Deol in the leading role.
