Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma calls Sunny Deol-starrer an 'emotion'; recalls watching public feedback with his wife

Sunny Deol returned with Gadar's second installment in 2023. The first part had its theatrical release in 2001. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 featured Sunny reprising his character of Tara Singh while Ameesha Patel played Sakeena. Needless to add, the action drama film became a blockbuster hit at the box office. 1 year after Gadar 2's release, Anil Sharma has opened up about the significance of the film's massive success.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Anil Sharma spoke about the significance of Gadar 2's massive success. The senior filmmaker told the entertainment portal, "Mere liye bahut maayne rakhti hai kyunki Gadar 2 ek film nahin hai, Gadar 2 ek emotion hai pure Bharat ka (It matters to me because Gadar 2 is not a film, but an emotion for nation)."

The director also recalled watching audience feedback with his wife when Gadar 2 hit the silver screen. Sharm added that they had tears in their eyes while watching some reactions online. Sunny Deol, too, got emotional. "We were like our hard work has paid off and God has blessed us because whatever we made with immense dedication, the public has liked it. Whatever you make is for the public to like," he stated.

Besides Sunny and Ameesha, Gadar 2 featured Utkarsh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, and Simrat Kaur in important roles. Produced by Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions, and MM Movies, the film was theatrically released on August 11, 2023.

Gadar 2, one of the highest-grossing films of the previous year, is available for viewing on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. If you missed watching the action drama film in cinemas, you can revisit it on streaming. While Gadar 2 was a massive hit, it is not confirmed if a third installment would be made.
