Gadar 2: Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel sequel wraps first shoot schedule

The second part to Tara Singh and Sakina’s love story is inching closer to completion. The first filming schedule of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 has wrapped up.

The actor took to his official Instagram handle to share the exciting new update, which included a few glimpses from the upcoming sequel as well. In the photographs, Deol is seen in character as Tara, staring off into the distance. In the caption of the post, the actor mentioned that he had wrapped up the first schedule of filming, and also expressed his excitement at being able to revisit the character after a gap of almost 20 years.

The film is a sequel to the 2001 film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, the film told the story of a Sikh man, Tara, who falls in love with Muslim girl named Sakina. The film had been a hit at the box office. The sequel had been announced in October and had gone on floors earlier this month.

Deol and Ameesha Patel will reprise their roles as Tara and Sakina respectively in the upcoming film. Utkarsh Sharma, who had played Tara and Sakina’s son in the 2001 film, will also appear in the sequel.

Gadar 2 is directed by Anil Sharma. According to a report in Pinkvilla, the filmmaker had been trying to get the sequel made for almost 15 years and was confident that it would live up to the legacy of the first movie.

The film is being produced under the banner of Zee Studios. Although an exact release date is yet to be announced, the film is scheduled to be released in 2022.
