Sunny Deol revealed that he struggled to find distributors for the 2001 film Gadar
Actor Sunny Deol is all set to play the beloved character of Tara Singh once again in the highly anticipated film, Gadar 2. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film also features Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in lead roles. During a recent appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Sunny opened up about his apprehensions and nervousness regarding the film. Reflecting on the past, he recalled how Bollywood initially turned its back on Gadar when it was released.
In a promo shared by Sony TV, host Kapil Sharma welcomed Sunny, who made a grand entrance dressed as Tara. As the comedian inquired about his emotions ahead of the film's release, Sunny expressed his mixed feelings in Punjabi, saying, "There is excitement, but also nervousness. When the film was released, everyone in the industry... But the way the audiences pulled it up, everyone just changed."
Sunny went on to credit the success of the original Gadar for giving him the confidence to embark on Gadar 2. "The audiences are the reason why I'm making Gadar 2," he said, adding, "They loved the first film, and I know they're going to love the second one too."
Gadar was re-released on June 9 this year, garnering immense popularity as audiences flocked to witness the epic love story of Tara Singh and Sakeena. During an event, Sunny interacted with fans and shared how the film initially faced resistance within the industry. Many suggested dubbing the film into Hindi due to its Punjabi dialogues, while distributors refused to acquire it.
Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is a period action-drama film is directed and produced by Anil Sharma, with story penned by Shaktimaan Talwar. The film is set to clash with Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 on August 11.
