First-time director Sujana Rao's debut film Gamanam is heading for a release on December 10. The anthology film stars Shriya Saran, Shiva Kandukuri, Priyanka Jawalkar and Nithya Menen in lead roles and is jointly produced by Ramesh Karutoori, Venki Pushadapu and Gnana Shekar V.S under Kria Film Corporation and Kali Productions. As of now, only the Telugu version of Gamanam is gearing up to hit theatres, while the release plans for the film in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages haven't been disclosed yet.
Shriya plays a mother to an infant in the film who does odd jobs for a living and stays away from her husband. Shiva Kandukuri and Priyanka Jawalkar are paired alongside each other, with the former cast in the part of an aspirant cricketer. Nithya Menen dons the role of a classical singer. The film is about a crisis that unites all the characters under one roof and their road ahead. Gamanam is set in the backdrop of Hyderabad amidst a flood-like situation where the characters are at the crossroads of their lives.
Gamanam has managed to hog the limelight for the presence of ace composer Ilaiyaraaja in the crew. The lyrics for the Telugu album have been penned by Krishna Kanth, whose song Ee Raathale from Prabhas, Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam was released recently. Charu Haasan, Suhas essay supporting roles in the film for which Sai Madhav Burra has penned the dialogues. VS Gnana Shekar, who is also co-producing Gamanam, has cranked the camera.
