Puneeth Rajkumar’s Gandhada Gudi was a project that he was immensely proud and passionate about. The late Power Star was known to be a travel and adventure aficionado, but those destinations were mostly controlled environments and nothing like what he put himself through for the docu-feature. Wild Karnataka maker J Amoghavarsha’s film saw the duo travel along the length and breadth of the state to uncover hidden gems, most of which threw Puneeth out of his comfort zone. All of this made Gandhada Gudi a must-watch – one that gave the actor’s fans and Kannada film aficionados a closer look at Puneeth as a person and not the star.

In theatres, the film received a warm reception, and it was then expected to make its way to Amazon Prime Video in due course of time, as the streamer has been the preferred choice for all of Puneeth’s home productions from PRK Productions. Many possible streaming dates were speculated, but there was never ever a word from the platform or the production house. It was then said that the makers were looking at re-releasing the film in theatres on Puneeth’s birthday, March 17, and hence the delay in streaming. When we reached out to a PRK Productions official, he said that there was no discussion yet about bringing Gandhada Gudi back to theatres.
Instead, we now hear that Gandhada Gudi may be available to stream soon, but it’s not where you’d expect it to be. According to a source, the team is currently in negotiations with the new Kannada OTT platform Cinebazzar, and if all goes well, Gandhada Gudi will be on the platform on March 17. The thing about Cinebazaar is that it does not operate on subscription basis. Once the film is on the platform, a ticket rate is fixed, and upon payment of the same, you have access to it for 24 hours. So far, the films that Cinebazzar has picked up come at a Rs 25 per ticket pricing.
An industry insider says that the dubbed versions of Gandhada Gudi may stil come to Amazon Prime Video at some point.
