The motion poster of Gandhi-Godse Ek Yudh was released on Tuesday by the makers of the film. The poster offers a glimpse into the film, in which the two protagonists - Godse and Gandhi - are fighting with each other because of their ideological differences. The motion poster looks quite promising and has generated a fair amount of curiosity among the audiences.

Interestingly, it also shows how the conversation is set in an imaginary manner based on a real incident where Godse, a Hindu nationalist and member of the political party Hindu Mahasabha, killed Gandhi, the father of the nation, by firing at him from point-blank range.

The conversation between two starts when Gandhi asks Godse why did he kill him, to which Godse answers that the reason was his stand on Hindu Rashtra, which can be achieved only by killing Gandhi. Then Gandhi explains that bullets can only kill an individual and not their ideology, and that firearms have no place in any battle of ideologies.

It is interesting to notice that actor Chinmay Mandlekar, who earlier appeared in the film The Kashmir Files and played the character of a terrorist Faruq Malik Bitta, based on the characters of two real-life Kashmiri separatists Yasin Malik and Vitta Karate; is essaying the role of Nathuram Godse in the upcoming film.

The character of Mahatma Gandhi is played by Deepak Antani.

Gandhi-Godse Ek Yudh is based on the real-life incident of the assassination of Gandhi on January 30, 1948, in Delhi. The story of the film is written by Asghar Wajahat and Rajkumar Santoshi.

Santoshi is coming back to direction after a gap of 10 years; his last directorial was Phata Poster Nikhla Hero in 2013.

Produced by Manila Santoshi, with music by AR Rahman, the film also stars Pawan Chopra, Anuj Saini, Sharad Singh and Arif Zakaria. It is releasing in theatres on January 26, 2023.
