Gangers box office collection: Sundar C and Vadivelu’s film begins on a slow note; Does not replicate Madha Gaja Raja first day success

Gangers, the 2025 Tamil comedy entertainer starring Sundar C and which saw the return of Vadivelu as comedian, debuted in theatres on Thursday. Following this, the film has collected Rs 0.58 crore on day one at the domestic box office. Will Gangers beat Sundar C's previous film Madha Gaja Raja? One has to wait and see over the weekend.

Earlier this year, Sundar C’s 12-year-old film Madha Gaja Raja came out of nowhere and won the Pongal season by becoming the first commercial success of the year. Now, within months, the filmmaker is back with another film Gangers, directed by Sundar C, who has also starred in the film alongside veteran comedian Vadivelu. Gangers witnessed Vadivelu in a full-fledged comedian role after a long time.

The film released in theatres on Thursday. The first day collection is Rs 0.58 crore, which is far lesser than what Madha Gaja Raja earned on its first day (Rs 3 crore). However, with Sundar C’s films promising a guarantee of commercial entertainment and Vadivelu being there, Gangers is expected to pick up over the weekend. One has to wait and see if Sundar C will be scoring a hattrick with Gangers.

Gangers on OTT

After working in films like London , Winner and Giri , Sundar C and Vadivelu collaborated once again for Gangers. Also starring Catherise Tresa, Mime Gopi, Bagavathi Perumal, Munishkanth and others, Gangers’ OTT rights have been bagged by Prime Video.

The film is a heist comedy drama set in a small town. It revolves around a school teacher who complaints about a missing school girl, which soon transcends into a group of characters planning a heist to rob wads of cash that are stocked by three goon brothers who rule the town.
