The popular Malayalam drama Pathinettam Padi, that charted the journey of several teenagers from different walks of life, is coming to Telugu as well. Titled Gangs of 18, the Telugu version is produced by G Venkata Sambi Reddy of Sri Venkateswara Vidyalayam's Arts. The Telugu version, whose theatrical trailer released nearly a year ago, is all set to hit theatres on January 26.
Starring Chandunadh,Harisankar SG, Ahaana Krishna, Akshay Radhakrishnan, Ashwin Gopinath, Wafa Khatheeja Rahman and Arsha Baiju in pivotal roles, several major Malayalam stars have made special appearances in the movie, right from Mammootty to Prithviraj Sukumaran to Arya and Unni Mukundan. Shankar Ramakrishnan had directed the coming-of-age tale, jointly produced by cinematographer Santosh Sivan, actors Arya and Shaji Nadesan.
The story of Gangs of 18 essentially revolves around students from contrasting socio-economic backgrounds in two different schools in a city. If one of the schools is barely having a hand-to-mouth existence, the other school is full of youngsters losing direction in their lives owing to drugs. Needless to say, they don't get along well with one another. What will help this teenagers discover their purpose?
AH Kaashif has composed the music for the film for which Sudeep Elamon had cranked the camera. Gangs of 18 is edited by Bhuvan Srinivasan and has Subhash Karun as its art director. Master Kecha, Supreme Sunder, Rajasekhar have choreographed the action sequences. P Nalini Kumari is the co-producer while A Gopinandan Reddy is the executive producer.
