Actor-filmmaker Girish Kumar, who made Bhavachitra, in which he played a pivotal role as well, will next be seen in Gangster Alla Prankster, a comedy that he’s the protagonist of. Girish plays a YouTube influencer, who makes prank videos in the film, which will be in theatres on April 25, 2025. “Gangster Alla Prankster has been censored U/A without any cuts. The film is based on a YouTube influencer and explores how powerful a medium video-sharing is. My character is that of a YouTuber, who makes prank videos and given that it is a modern-day subject, we are targeting a multiplex-only release, with about 60 screens only,” says Girish about the film and its release plan.

Gangster Alla Prankster plot

In the film, which also stars Tilak Shekar, Viranika Shetty, Rathish Kumar, Girish Bijjal, Honnavali Krishna, Bala Rajwadi, Hanumanthe Gowda, Bhavani Prakash and Sunder, among others, Girish plays an unemployed youngster called Arjun, who is trying to strike rich as the YouTube influencer Webmaster, specialising in prank videos. When Arjun’s path crosses that of a gangster, everything goes haywire.

Speaking about her character in the film at a pre-release press meet, Viranika said that while she is the romantic interest, whether or not she supports Arjun in his mission to become a YouTube influencer is at the crux of her arc. Karvva fame Tilak plays the gangster in the tale.

Gangster Alla Prankster is one of 5 Kannada films in theatres this week. On April 24, Dr Rajkumar fans have two reasons to rejoice – for starters, the classic Gandhada Gudi will be back in theatres and second, the maiden production venture of the late matinee idol’s granddaughter Niveditha Shivarajkumar – Firefly. Bhairathi Ranagal star Shivarajkumar has a cameo in his daughter’s film. Also in theatres will be Amara Premi Arun and Navagraha fame Dharma Keerthiraj’s Dasarahalli.
