Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt-Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film trends worldwide on Netflix at No. 1

The crime drama is one of the most important Indian films of the year, and it is now available on Netflix in Hindi and Telugu for fans in India and across the world to enjoy at home or on the go.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production company revealed some insights about the recently released picture. The film is now trending at No. 1 worldwide in nations such as India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, among others. It is also ranked in the top ten in numerous regions. Pen Movies, also the producer of the film, took to social media to announce the news. Sharing a poster with the names of the country where the film is trending, the makers wrote: “The Queen continues to reign worldwide!”

The plot of Gangubai Kathiwadi is based on S. Hussain Zaid's novel "Mafia Queens of Mumbai," and focuses around a humble girl Ganga from Kathiawadi, a tiny hamlet in Gujarat, who had no choice but to embrace what life threw at her and swing it in her favour. She is cheated by her boyfriend into leaving the countryside for Mumbai with the promise of a film career. Her ambitions of a film career come crumbling down in Mumbai when she is drawn into the underworld and prostitution. She then ends up ruling Kamathipura, the biggest red-light area in Mumbai.

To arouse a wide spectrum of emotions, the film blends the great performers, music, artwork, and visuals. Bhansali Productions produced the film, which was written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The performance of especially Alia Bhatt is being widely appreciated.

Apart from Bhatt, the film also features Ajay Devgn, Jim Sarbh, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Bhargava, among others.
