Gangubai Kathiawadi star Alia Bhatt to star opposite Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli’s film?

Alia Bhatt seems to be on a roll as of late. The actress recently won hearts with her formidable performance as the titular protagonist in Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Even with a string of other projects awaiting releases, it seems that the actress has also taken on another project, with some big names attached to it.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Bhatt is in talks for a pan-Indian film, helmed by SS Rajamouli. In the upcoming film, touted to be a movie in the adventure genre, she will reportedly share the screen with Mahesh Babu.

A source told the portal that the filmmaker has been working on the project for the past few months along with his father and fellow filmmaker, KV Vijayendra Prasad. They have been working on the film’s screenplay and have decided upon several characters, and they felt that Bhatt would be a good choice to play the film’s female lead, opposite Babu. If the news is confirmed, the upcoming film would mark the first on-screen collaboration of Bhatt and Babu.

The report further states that the makers were trying to seek out characters from different parts of the country, to make the film appealing to different kinds of audiences. The film is expected to go on floors sometime next year, and is touted to be set in a jungle. Makers are expected to shoot in real wilderness-like locations as well as make use of VFX to get the desired effect.

Meanwhile, Bhatt is currently awaiting the release of her recent collaboration with Rajamouli, RRR. The film, which stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan, will be released in theatres on March 25.
