Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer: Alia Bhatt is nothing but Deepika Padukone from Ram-Leela repackaged in THIS scene

Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer released some time back. The actress, who has collaborated with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the first time in the movie, has actually taken a page from his old film – Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela. Alia has reenacted Deepika Padukone’s Leela in a scene in Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer.

If you notice the trailer closely, you’ll understand the resemblance we’re talking about. Deepika created history with Ram-Leela song Ang Laga De and thus, the scene just appears to be Alia repackaging an SLB film for another SLB film.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali did not change the hairstyle or the attire for the scene either. He let both Deepika and Alia leave their hair open for the scene. They both wore a plain ghagra-choli while lying on the bed. Not just that, Gangubai (Alia) was also given a black spot on her cheek, just like Leela (Deepika).

While Ang Laga De celebrated Ram (Ranveer Singh) and Leela’s wedding, the Gangubai Kathiawadi scene is about Gangubai’s conversation with a certain Birju. She is heard talking about business (most likely politics).

Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer also features Vijay Raaz, Ajay Devgn and Jim Sarbh in pivotal roles. The female counterparts include Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi has been in the pipeline for a long time. The film was also affected by the Karni Sena. The Alia Bhatt starrer is now slated to release in theatres on February 25.
