Sai Pallavi was last seen in Gargi, a legal drama written by Hariharan Raju along with Gautham Ramachandran, who has also directed the film. The film has Sai Pallavi and Kaali Venkat in the lead. Sai Pallavi plays a struggling teacher Gargi, whose father is suspected of being part of a gang rape. The star cast includes RS Shivaji, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Sudha S, Prathap, Livingston, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaprakash, to name a few. The actress won accolades for her performance in the film.

The actress has signed her next with Sivakarthikeyan and the film has been tentatively titled SK24. The film will be directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's production house Raaj Kamal Films International. Sivakarthikeyan, in the meantime, is currently busy shooting for Maaveeran, helmed by the National Award-winning director Madonne Ashwin. We hear that the actor plays a cartoonist in the film, where what he draws comes true in real life. The title announcement was released by the Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu.

Gargi was also seen in Virata Parvam, a Telugu romantic action drama, written and directed by Venu Udugala. The film had Gargi teaming up with Rana Daggubati and the plot revolved around a woman in the pursuit of her love with a Naxal leader. Though the film didn't rake in the moolah at the box office, Sai Pallavi's performance was appreciated by the critics and audience.
