Be it beauty pageants, films or reality shows, Guahar Khan makes sure to give it her all, whenever she graces the screen. However, the actress recently opened up about how she lost out on one of the biggest films of her career due to the way she looked.
In a conversation with Film Companion, the actress revealed how she had lost out on one of the biggest projects of her career, Slumdog Millionaire, because she was ‘too good looking for it’. She spoke of how she had had almost five rounds of auditions with director Danny Boyle. After the fifth round of auditions, the director had said that Khan was a fantastic actor. The filmmaker then went on to ask her whether she had received her training in India. Khan said she was still a newcomer. Boyle said that he’d thought Khan sounded like an actor who was from outside of India.
Calling her a ‘fab actor’, Boyle had told her that he wouldn't be able to cast her in his film, as he had to match three different age groups but could not place Khan as a character from a slum due to how she looked. “I have no regrets about it and I met Danny Boyle. He thought I was a great actor and for me that is amazing in itself,” said Khan.
The actress went on to talk about how there was no particular ‘formula’ to getting roles. She said that she was happy getting the roles that she did, and how directors cast her in roles that needed ‘a performance’. She said that was very ‘important’ and ‘exciting’ for her.
The actress, who has participated in reality shows such as Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss, was last seen in the SonyLIV series Salt City.
