Actor Simbu, filmmaker Gautham Menon and composer AR Rahman have joined hands for the third time in their career for the gangster drama Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The film hit theatres on September 15 and opened to positive reviews in Tamil. The Telugu version titled The Life of Muthu released in Telugu states on Saturday. Leading producer Sravanthi Ravikishore released the film in Telugu. Commemorating the Telugu release, the filmmaker, producer and lead actress Siddhi Idnani were in Hyderabad today.

Gautham Menon, while talking about the film, said, "I had no idea to release the film in Telugu. However, I got a call from Sravanthi Ravikishore sir, who said that he liked the trailer and the music and expressed his interest to release it in Telugu as well. The film takes off in a small village in Tamil Nadu. We wondered what place would be apt for the Telugu version and thought about the slang the protagonist should speak. We did enough research and took care of such nuances in the Telugu version."

"I generally don't read reviews of my films. However, most reviews, I believe, mention that the lead actors in my films romance on bikes. There's nothing of that sort in The Life of the Muthu. It is only because of Simbu that I could make a realistic film staying true to my vision without worrying about how his fans would react to it. Simbu generally doesn't bother about such things. I have a comfort zone with him," he added.

Legendary Tamil writer Jeyamohan wrote the script in Tamil and after offering the film to Gautham Menon, reportedly his wife told him, "You've given a loveless story to a filmmaker who makes love stories." Taking the comment into consideration, a romantic track was included in the film. The details about the sequel will be announced soon. Gautham Menon revealed that his film with Ram Pothineni, produced by Sravanthi Ravikishore will take off in 2023.

Sravanthi Ravikishore said that he always shared a good rapport with Gautham Menon and talked of his plans to make another film with hilm, during which the Telugu release of The Life of Muthu had materialised. The producer watched the Tamil version only this week and stated that he really liked it. The banner comes with the reputation of releasing films like Nayakudu, Pushpaka Vimanam and Raghuvaran B.Tech in the past.

Siddhi Idnani mentioned that acting in a Gautham Menon film was a dream come true. "To be seated on the same stage as him is so gratifying. I thank Sravanthi Ravikishore for releasing the film in Telugu. When the film was announced, I had shared the screenshot to my manager unaware that I would be a part of it. I was speechless when I was offered the project. It's good to taste success after a while."
