Martin Prakat’s Nayattu came out in April this year and was widely accepted and appreciated by the audience. The latest clatter now is that the remake rights for Nayattu have been sold in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The Tamil remake of the political thriller is said to be helmed by Gautham Menon. An official confirmation on this is awaited.
Nayattu hit screens across the state in April when theatres reopened. The movie opened to a positive response from the audience, but with the theatres closing again, the run of Nayattu came to an end.
Soon after, the movie started streaming on Netflix. The release on the streaming platform meant that more people watched the movie, and Nayattu garnered more positive reviews.
Directed by Martin Prakat, Nayattu stays true to its title, meaning “hunt”. The movie revolves around three cops who are pushed into an unexpected situation days before a major election. The movie is a fast-paced chase throughout with Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles and also features Jaffar Idukki, Anil Nedumangad and Yama Gilgamesh among others.
Bankrolled by Martin Prakat, Ranjith and PM Sasidharan under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company and Martin Prakat Films, it was written by Shahi Kabir, who previously wrote Joseph starring Joju in the titular role. Shyju Khalid was the cinematographer for the movie and was edited by Mahesh Narayanan.
Gautham’s most recent directorial release was Enai Noki Paayum Thota starring Dhanush released in 2019. The celebrated director is awaiting the release of Navarasa, which will see a segment directed by him. The anthology web series will premiere on Netflix on August 6.
