Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha to finally hit theatres; to release on this date in March

We had earlier reported that filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon will be directing a Tamil film titled Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha. While the film has been in the can for quite some time now, the makers on Friday, took to social media to finally announce the release date of the project.

Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha is set to release in theatres on March 1. The film stars Varun, who has previously appeared in films like Comali, Bogan, Seeru, in the lead role. He also appeared in the fifth season of Tamil reality TV show Bigg Boss and sustained for 84 days.

Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha finally set for release

The upcoming film is backed by Varun’s family member, Ishari K Ganesh under the banner Vels Film International. The film stars Raahei as the female lead while Krishna came on board to essay the antagonist's role in it. Actors Yogi Babu, Mansoor Ali Khan, Vichithra and Dhivyadharshini will also be seen in crucial roles in the movie which has Varun playing a hitman. The film’s plot revolves around the protagonist who takes up the responsibility of saving a girl who is being chased by several gangsters.

Singer Karthik has turned into a composer and scored music for Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha. The technical crew also consists of cinematography by SR Kathir and editing by Anthony. Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha was expected to release in 2020, but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gautham Menon’s long pending projects

Gautham Menon last directed the 2022 action-drama Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part 1: The Kindling starring Silambarasan in the lead role. It is to be noted that Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha is not the director’s first project to have a delayed release. The filmmaker's spy action thriller film Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam, starring Vikram in the lead role, was supposed to have released in 2023. However, the project got delayed to financial constraints and is yet to see the daylight.

Meanwhile, on the acting front, Gautham was last seen in a cameo appearance in the Malayalam film Sesham Mike-il Fathima. He is also part of Viduthalai 2 directed by Vetri Maaran and has Malayalam film Varaham alongside Suresh Gopi and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
