Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups will be in theatres in only 36 days on March 19, 2026, the last update of which came on leading man Yash’s birthday, with his character intro teaser. Since then, there’ve been only a couple of updates, which were about the theatrical distribution partners, and not in terms of the content. No teaser, song or trailer and no indication as to when fans can expect the publicity blitzkrieg.

What do Yash fans want from Geetu Mohandas?

So, when Toxic director Geetu Mohandas took to social media about the Raya intro tease closing in on the 100 million views milestone, the response from Yash fans, of course, was, ‘We need an update’. From questions about when the team will start promotions, and drop major publicity material, to requests urging her to use new posters instead of posting the same one over and over again, Geetu’s post garnered a lot of comments.

With the film set for a massive box office clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: Revenge, there were naysayers too on Geetu’s timeline hinting at the power of bots in getting to the 100 million number. In fact, in the last few days, the negative PR for Toxic has gained momentum, what with updates about the theatrical distribution rights and the amounts thereof being challenged. For instance, after it was said that the Telangana/AP belt went for Rs 120 cr, several X handles refuted this and stated it as only a third of this, at Rs 40 cr.

The overseas rights for Indian languages of Rs 105 cr has also been met with comments stating that the team was inflating numbers. The latest buzz is that the bidding for the film’s OTT rights is around the Rs 300 cr figure.
