Deepika Padukone has cemented a position as one of the most sought-after leading ladies in Bollywood ever since she made her Hindi debut in 2007, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, in Om Shanti Om. The Gehraiyaan star recently revealed that her first film offer had come from another industry stalwart, and he is none other than Salman Khan himself.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the actress talked about how she always had a good relationship with Khan and she would always be grateful to him for being one of the first people to have offered her a part in a film. When the star had just started a career in modelling, someone who had worked with her had mentioned about her to Khan. She had said no to Khan’s film offer at the time as she was not keen to be a part of movies then. The actress added that Khan saw potential in her at a time when she herself had not. Before her Bollywood debut, Padukone had made her on-screen debut in 2006 in the Kannada film, Aishwarya.
Padukone was recently seen in the relationship drama, Gehraiyaan, directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios and Jouska Films. The film, which also features Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, Dhairya Karwa, Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
The actress also has a string of other projects lined up as well, including Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan and a project where she will share the screen with Prabhas.
