Ghaati: Anushka Shetty avoids promotions yet again, fans left wondering why

Ghaati is one of the most-awaited films in recent times as Anushka Shetty has teamed up with director Krish for the second time in her career after Vedham (now streaming on OTTplay Premium). The action drama was set to hit the screens in March 2025, but has been postponed twice already.

Ghaati set for a September 5, 2025 release

Well, the makers have now revealed that Ghaati will finally hit the screens on September 5, 2025, and there is no backing out. This date was also special as HanuMan-fame Teja Sajja's Mirai has also locked the same release date. But the makers backed out at the last minute and are now releasing the film on September 12, 2025.

So that means Ghaati is the only Telugu biggie to hit the screens on September 5, 2025. Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi is the other Tamil-dubbed film that will be out on the same day. On the other hand, the makers of Ghaati have speeded up the promotions, and Anushka is nowhere to be seen in the picture.

One of the sources close to the unit revealed to us that the star heroine will not be part of the promotions at all, and this she had conveyed to the makers and director Krish when she signed the film. There is no denying the fact that Anushka is a massive star, and her talking about the film would help Ghaati big time at the box office. But Anushka has maintained the no-promotion clause for Ghaati.

This is not the first time that something like this has happened. Even for her last release, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, Anushka did not give a single interview or attend any event of the film. It was the main lead, Naveen Polishetty, who did all the talking. Well, the same is going to happen this time as well for Ghaati.

Ghaati OTT platform details

The film marks the Telugu debut of Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu. Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights for a fancy price.  

Vidya Sagar has composed the music for this film, which also has Chaitanya Rao of Mayasabha fame as one of the main villains. Those who were waiting to see Anushka take charge of the promotions will have to wait longer for her to face the public.
