R. Balki's upcoming film, Ghoomer, has a release date. The film, featuring Saiyami Kher as a para-athlete, stars Abhishek Bachchan as her coach. The inspiration film is slated to hit the big screen on August 18, 2023. Abhishek took to his social media pages and shared the first-look video featuring both actors.
The video has Abhishek sporting a rugged look while donning the role of a coach, while Saiyami is seen as a specially-abled bowler, giving a glimpse that she is one of the best cricketers in tow.
While sharing the video, Abhishek captioned it on Instagram, stating, "Lefty hai? Left hi hai. #GhoomerInCinemas on the 18th of August! #RBalki @azmishabana18 @saiyami @angadbedi @rude_diaries @vishalsinhadop @itsamittrivedi @raahool19 @swanandkirkire @hopeprodn #PremVijan @penmarudhar.official."
Take a look below:
Earlier, while talking about her role, Saiyami had said, "I play the role of a left-handed bowler in Ghoomer, and, for me, in real life, I am a right-handed player. I could never actually step into the shoes of a real-life para-athlete, but even the small hurdles I had to overcome as an athlete myself reminded me of things we take for granted. Preparing and filming for Ghoomer opened my eyes in a way that I never thought would happen to go into it. It was a physically and emotionally challenging time, but my struggles were minuscule when compared to those heroes who make our country proud by participating in so many sports as para-athletes."
Ghoomer will premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 12, 2023, ahead of its theatrical release. Balki and Abhishek stated in a joint statement, "It’s indeed an honour and pleasure for us that Ghoomer will be the opening film at the IFFM. Ghoomer is a story of turning adversity into an advantage. A story of innovation when faced with extermination, Ghoomer is a tribute to Sport and the reservoir of human resilience. It’s only fitting for a film that believes that sport makes life worth living’ to be launched in the Sports capital of the world, Australia, land of the MCG."
