Malayalam actor Jayaram, who has been in films for well over 3 decades, is set to make his Kannada film debut tomorrow, when the Shivarajkumar-led Ghost releases in theatres. An action heist thriller directed by MG Srinivas, Ghost has Jayaram playing a hostage negotiator called Chengappa, whose services are called in after Shivarajkumar’s character holds a prison, and, more specifically, a former intelligence officer hostage. The role, he says, is just as important as Shivarajkumar’s and, hence, makes for an excellent Kannada film debut.

The actor, who is currently in the midst of shooting for the Mahesh Babu-led Telugu film Guntur Kaaram, took out time recently for the promotions of Ghost in Mumbai, during which he was asked about a film of his that he would like to see being remade in Hindi and the actor that he thinks would be apt to play the role he had done in the original. Without batting an eyelid, Jayaram said that he’d like to see his upcoming film Abraham Ozler made in Hindi and added that he would want to be in that version as well. “After many years, I got a role in Malayalam cinema that is truly outstanding and that is the one in Midhun Manuel Thomas’ medical thriller Abraham Ozler, which will be in theatres for Christmas on December 21,” Jayaram had told OTTplay.

Beside Guntur Kaaram, Jayaram is set to collaborate with director Selvaraghavan for the sequel of the 2004 film 7G Rainbow Colony, as well as with director Mysskin, for a film led by Vijay Sethupathi. “I am well and truly enjoying this phase of my career. Every day, I am speaking a different language, meeting new people and doing a wide range of characters – that’s the stuff happiness is made of for an artiste,” he told OTTplay. And although Jayaram is collaborating with artistes across industries, he still has a wishlist and hopes to be able to collaborate with the likes of Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi, shortly.
